Speechify launches AI voice typing on iOS and Mac

Speechify has launched Voice Typing on iOS and Mac, adding artificial intelligence-powered dictation that works across third-party apps and automatically edits spoken language before inserting it as text.

The iOS version operates through a custom Speechify keyboard. Users can select the keyboard inside an app, tap the microphone, and dictate into the active text field.

On Mac, Voice Typing runs as a desktop application with a microphone button in the dock. Users hold the function key to start dictating into the application currently in focus.

Speechify is positioning the feature for professionals, students, creators, and people who find conventional typing difficult, including users with dyslexia or attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.

Voice Typing is available now through the Apple App Store and as a Mac desktop application. Speechify describes the core dictation function as unlimited but has not provided pricing details for the wider product.

Speechify says its AI system removes filler words, adjusts grammar and punctuation, and restructures spoken phrases so the output reads more like written text. The edited text is inserted directly into the active field, allowing users to continue working without copying content from a separate transcription service.

On iOS, the keyboard can be used wherever Apple permits third-party keyboard input, including Messages, Mail, Notes, Gmail, Slack, Notion, Google Docs, ChatGPT, WhatsApp, and LinkedIn.

The Mac application works across desktop tools such as Microsoft Word, Outlook, Apple Notes, Google Docs, Slack, and Notion. It does not require separate configuration for each supported application.

The product may also provide another input option for students and professionals who experience physical or cognitive barriers when typing. Users can speak in complete thoughts and receive edited text without manually correcting every restart or filler word.

Speechify already offers text-to-speech technology, which converts written materials into audio. Voice Typing adds a speech-to-text input layer, allowing users to produce and consume written content through voice across supported devices.
