Elliot Anderson is one long-term target who won't work under Carrick as Manchester City have completed a £116million deal for his services. Fellow midfielder Sandro Tonali is considering a Spurs move, potentially putting him out of United's radar

Hydration break underway in New Jersey and Marcus Rashford has been a bright spark for England.

Ex-Manchester United star Nicky Butt has suggested that the club sign Lucas Bergvall instead of the highly-rated Mateus Fernandes. He said: "[Mateus] Fernandes is a fantastic player. I loved him at West Ham when I watched him, but when it comes to Man United, he's not going to be playing instead of Bruno Fernandes.
"I'm pretty sure the people around him will also be telling him that. He will want to kick on and become one of the best in the Premier League - his next move might then be to Real Madrid or Barcelona or wherever.

"If he goes to Tottenham, he's going to be the main man, one of the best players. Plus he’ll be on a fortune and living in London. I like Lucas Bergvall a lot. It looks like Elliot Anderson is going to Man City but United are still going for someone who can get about the pitch and be box to box.
"He’s pretty proven in the league and Scandinavian players always adapt very well. He's powerful. He can run. I think he'd be a good player for Man United. It all depends on the price. But put that to one side and he's a very good player. Another player that can get around the pitch and do what a Man United player needs to do.”
It is understood that Manchester United are currently the closest to submitting a bid for Morgan Gibbs-White. Football Insider claims that the 26-year-old could push to leave Nottingham Forest this summer just one year after signing a new deal.

"Get him signed, sealed, delivered. Tchouameni? I know we've had a few conversations in private but man, I know you watch the show, I'm looking down the lens right now at you. Behind these shades, there is only one club for you man.
"If you are looking to leave Real Madrid, we are the club , Man United are the club. If you want to make it happen, make the call, that's what I'd do."
Bayern Munich are set to win the race for Nathaniel Brown, with Manchester United missing out on the defender. Reports from the Standard suggest that Arsenal and United were keen on the Germany international.
However, the fullback has opted to stay in the Bundesliga and has swapped Eintracht Frankfurt for their rivals at Bayern. The league champions have moved quickly to secure the player and will play a reported £47million (€55m) for his services.

Reports suggest that Jose Mourinho is keen on bringing Scott McTominay to Real Madrid this summer. The La Liga manager gave the Scotland international his debut at Old Trafford in 2017 and he has gone from strength to strength since opting for Napoli.
Tuttomercatoweb say Napoli have no intention of selling and have placed a £69million price tag on him. Napoli chiefs will hold talks with the midfielder once he returns from the World Cup and Madrid could help United make more money thanks to his 10% sell-on clause.

Barcelona are still keen on Marcus Rashford but only if Manchester United lower their transfer demands for the star. While Anthony Gordon's £69million move looked to end the chances of a reunion between the attacker and Barca, the club are still hoping to reclaim his services.
TeamTALK indicate that the La Liga outfit hope United drop their £40m asking price, and instead settle for between £25m to £30m for his signature. Tottenham are also sniffing around the England international.

Manchester United have reportedly contacted Julian Alvarez's agents as they explore a potential chaotic move to steal the striker from under Arsenal and Barcelona's noses. The Atletico Madrid forward has been the subject of rejected bids from both Barca and Real Madrid this summer, as per the Metro.

Manchester United's interest in Aurelien Tchouameni has prompted Real Madrid to place a £103million price tag on him. Defensa Central reports that the La Liga outfit have told interested suitors that the midfielder will only be allowed to leave for that lofty valuation.
Madrid do not consider Tchouameni as a star they are required to sell and will only entertain offers of the £103m mark. United are still interested in the France international and would be able to meet the player's salary demands.

German Bundesliga side FC Koln are reportedly interested in signing United forward Chido Obi-Martin on loan. The Dane ended up making eight senior appearances for the Reds last season, with one coming from the start.
But United decided last summer to move him back into the academy to continue his development.
The Manchester Evening News understands that plan was set before the 2025/26 campaign to keep the youngster away from the spotlight and have him as a focal point for the Under 18s and Under 21s.
United are interested in Mexico wonderkid Gilberto Mora, alongside Real Madrid, Chelsea and Manchester City, according to TEAMtalk. The 17-year-old forward, who represents Club Tijuana, made his maiden World Cup start this week in his side's 3-0 victory over Czechia.
It is claimed that scouts have watched him in action at this summer's tournament in North America.
Kobbie Mainoo has been here before. Two years ago he had played just four minutes of England's first two Euro 2024 group games, but went on to emerge as one of the Three Lions' key men on the route to the final in Berlin.
Fast forward to another major tournament, and history is repeating itself. Mainoo hasn't got a single minute of action in the first two games of this World Cup, with Thomas Tuchel preferring other options in midfield.
As was the case in Germany in 2024, a stilted draw might open up an opportunity. Mainoo didn't start the third game in the group back then, but he came on for Conor Gallagher at half-time and never looked back. He started all four knockout games as England reached the final, only to lose 2-1 to Spain.
