PCUP promotes bag weaving as livelihood opportunity

THE Presidential Commission for the Urban Poor (PCUP) continues to strengthen livelihood programs for Project-Affected Persons (PAPs) of the South Commuter Railway Project through the implementation of a livelihood skills training on bag weaving.

As a show of support for the initiative, PCUP Chairman and CEO Undersecretary Michelle Anne “Che-Che” Gonzales personally attended the training activity and engaged with participants to better understand their needs and livelihood opportunities available to them.

According to Gonzales, it is important to expand livelihood opportunities within communities to provide families with sustainable sources of income and greater economic options.

“We believe that when adequate livelihood opportunities are available within the community itself, families are given a better chance to earn sufficient and appropriate income and build a more secure future,” Gonzales said.

The initiative aims to equip beneficiaries with additional skills and employment opportunities that can help them generate income while adapting to the changes brought about by the railway project.

PCUP continues to coordinate with the Department of Transportation (DOTr) and other partner agencies to ensure the effective implementation of livelihood programs for families affected by the South Commuter Railway Project.
