The next edition of the FIFA Men's World Cup will mark the 100th anniversary of the global tournament, and FIFA has something special in mind.
The next edition of the Men's World Cup will take place in the Mediterranean, particularly in Morocco, Portugal and Spain, the FIFA Council confirmed.
The Council also agreed to host a 100 year celebration in the Southern Cone of South America, specifically in Paraguay, Uruguay and Argentina. All three countries are a few hours drive away from each other.
One game will be played in each of the South American countries. All other matches will take place in the Mediterranean host countries.
"In 2030 the FIFA World Cup will unite three continents and six countries, inviting the entire world to join in the celebration of the beautiful game," FIFA stated.
The centenary ceremony will take place in Uruguay's capital, Montevideo, five hours away from Argentina's capital, Buenos Aires. Montevideo was chosen as the host of the centenary ceremony in honor to the first World Cup in 1930 which took place there.
FIFA said that the national soccer team of each of the six host countries will automatically qualify for the tournament.
