The demonstration comes as law enforcement agencies remain on high alert amid concerns over possible tensions linked to the nationwide demonstrations slated for June 30th.

The march will begin at Mary Fitzgerald Square in Newtown before making its way through Johannesburg’s CBD.

Organisers are expected to hand over memorandums at the China Shopping Centre and Dragon City before returning to the gathering point later in the day.

The Johannesburg Metro Police Department said the gathering has been approved and officers, together with members of the South African Police Service (SAPS) will be deployed to manage traffic, monitor the procession and maintain public order.

Motorists are advised to expect traffic disruptions around Mary Fitzgerald Square, Main Reef Road, China Shopping Centre and Dragon City throughout the day.
